Cold War Heroes Series - Flight Deep Sea 129 Shoot Down

Artist Concept of Deep Sea 129 Shoot Down 50 Years Ago Today

Historians like to refer the the Cold War being won without firing a shot. Of course, those of us that served know that that is a misnomer. Besides the "Proxy Wars" there were many incidents like this one where good soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen and coast guardsmen paid the ultimate sacrifice to keep our nation free from Communism.

This story is from April 15, 1969 when North Korean MIGs shot down flight Deep Sea 129, an EC-121 with the loss of all 31 crew members onboard. I wish to honor these fellow Cold Warriors on this anniversary date by sharing their story with you. RIP Fellow Cold Warriors

Thanks to Ned Forney, a writer of military articles in Korea for allowing me to share this with you today.
